Giving all workers the opportunity to earn paid sick leave and gradually raising the minimum wage will help workers, families and businesses across Washington thrive. Voting “Yes” on Initiative 1433 is the right thing to do and the smart thing to do for our economy.
Initiative 1433 ensures every Washington worker can earn paid sick and safe leave and raises the minimum wage to $13.50 phased-in over four years. Washingtonians should be able to take care of themselves or a sick child without having to choose between their family and a paycheck. By allowing more than 1 million Washington workers to earn paid sick leave, we can help prevent the spread of disease and keep our communities and our families safe.
Initiative 1433 is good for businesses and our economy, too. By raising the minimum wage for more than 730,000 Washingtonians, we will add nearly $2.5 billion into local economies. When minimum-wage workers have $600 more in their pockets every month, they spend it in local business and boost our economy. This will in-turn create more good-paying jobs.
This important initiative will appear on ballots on November 8.
We can make Washington a better place to live, work and raise a family. Vote Yes on 1433.
But we need your help to raise up Washington families and boost our economy.
